  • South Eugene High School, 400 East 19th Avenue, Eugene, Oregon
  • Play occurs in the cafeteria at the back of the school
  • Entry is possible only through the cafeteria entrance at the back of the school, where parking is available
Schedule

  • 8:30am - Check-in and registration
  • 9am - Players' meeting
  • 9am - Elite & Advanced Sections start
  • 9:30am - Intermediate and Novice Sections start 
  • Sets are supplied
  • FOR THE WIZARDS CHESS TOURNAMENT

  • Elite & Advanced winners of our previous tournament qualify automatically
  • Plus the 6 top rated entries in the Advanced Section
  • 1st: $125 & Trophy
  • 2nd: $75

ADVANCED​
  • Open to players of any rating who do not qualify for the Elite Eight
  • Winner gets a free entry into the Elite Eight for our next tournament
  • 1st-4th: trophies
  • Additional trophy for outstanding performance 
  • 4 rounds, G/60 i/5

INTERMEDIATE​
  • Open to all players with a Northwest Scholastic Rating System rating of under 1000 
  • Open to all unrated players
  • 1st-4th: trophies
  • Awards for outstanding performance
  • 5 rounds, G/35
  • NWSRS rated
NOVICE​
  • Open to all K-Gr. 8 players with a NWSRS rating of under 700 or unrated
  • May be divided into 2 sections by grade
  • Open to all unrated players below 9th grade
  • All Novices receive awards
  • 1st-4th: trophies
  • Awards & medals for outstanding performances
  • 5 rounds, G/25
  • NWSRS rated
​Rules

  1. USCF rules apply, with some exceptions in Novice section
  2. Latecomers: half-point bye for round #1
  3. Byes: up to 2 half-point byes allowed if requested before round #2
4. Tie-Breaks: 
  • Blitz tie-breaks for 1st place only; computer tie-breaks for other places
  • All players who tie for a trophy receive an award
  • Money prizes divided evenly in case of ties
